Reiki-Ma Healing Therapy
Reiki is an ancient laying on of hands touch healing system. All living
things are made of energy. This energy is our life force. In Japan the
energy is termed Ki. It is from this word Reiki is named. Reiki energy
heals the whole person and acts on many levels; emotional, physical,
mental and spiritual. All of us have this energy within us. We hold the
power to heal ourselves. Reiki sessions open up a person's chakras and
allow the energy to run freely again through the body. Most people
experience Reiki healing as very relaxing, warm and comforting. Reiki
energy acts in subtle yet powerful ways to allow a person to heal
themselves.
Reiki-Ma
focuses on awakening the bodies own inner healing ability. Reiki means
"life energy" and "Ma" is derived from the concept of "self" or
"Goddess within". Reiki-Ma incorporates energy sensing, Chakra work and
Reiki to tune in to your body and move towards a state of balance and
wholeness.
Reiki for Children and Women's Health
I have special interest in the use of Reiki specific to Children,
Women's Health and the Childbearing years. Throughout my time working
with women as a midwife, childbirth educator, and doua, I have explored
the use and affects of Reiki during birth, pregnancy, fertility issues,
menopause, premenstrual, with times of healing. Reiki treatments are
wonderful for pregnancy and for healing with young children. I also
teach private Reiki I classes for parents who would like to learn to
use Reiki for themselves and their child.
Chakra Balancing
The word chakra is Sanskrit for wheel or disk. There are seven basic energy centers in the body.
Each of these energy centers also corresponds to a major nerve ganglia
coming from the spinal column. Each chakra corresponds to different
stages of development, levels of consciousness, bodily functions,
colors and elements. Chakras are centers or "gates" where energy flows
and receive life force energy in the body. When a chakra is blocked or
wide open this can manifest as, or be a symptom of, a mental, emotional
or physical imbalance. By working with the chakras we create healing
and balance. Chakra balancing is done full clothed in a comfortable
warm room.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy
is a gentle system of healing based on the principle that any substance
that can cause an illness can also be a cure. Homeopathy strengthens
the body's life force and reduces stress. Treatment involves giving
very small doses of substances called remedies that would produce the
same or similar symptoms of illness in healthy people if they were
given in larger doses. Homeopathic practitioners select remedies
according to a total picture of the patient, including not only
symptoms but lifestyle, emotional and mental states, and other factors.
Treatment in homeopathy is individualized.
This system of healing is based on observing the whole person and
developing a symptom picture based on mental, emotional and physical
symptoms. Through homeopathy a sense of well being and balance:
physical, mental and emotional can be acheived.
Balance work & Yoga
Yoga postures, movements, balance exercises, and breathing help children and adults develop self-balance, posture, body awareness, and spatial orientation, all in a gentle fun way. One-on-one sessions build confidence and allow individuals to focus on their specific needs.
Homebirth Midwifery
My
midwifery practice is based on the knowledge that birth is a sacred and
natural process. Women already have the wisdom within them to give
birth. Women can become empowered through birth. It is my belief that
women give birth with their hearts and bodies NOT with their head. I
strongly encourage and assist women to educate themselves about birth
options and make choices based on their knowledge and intuition. I have
been attending homebirths for the past 10 years and in private practice
in the Pioneer Valley for the last 6. In addition to working in
homebirth, I have also attended births at a Port Maria Hospital in
Jamaica, in several free standing birth centers and practiced as a
doula for 8 years. I also train and teach student midwives as the
director and lead instructor of the WomanCraft Midwifery Program.
